This young chained mama dog was thankfully referred to Fences For Fido by our incredible rescue partner, Stumptown Strays, who was in Lone Pine providing free vaccines and preventative veterinary care for the pets of one of the tribal fishing villages along the Columbia River. This young mama and her human family are emblematic of the sheer poverty the people + pets exist every day as a result of generations of systemic inequities and much more. Because of the lack of resources and gaps in access to care, this family (until recently) hasn’t been able to receive the most basic of services for mama dog, like veterinary care, shelter, a longer leash with more room to move, and consistent food to keep her healthy. But what is in abundance is the love shared between this family. It’s in that spirit we will be honoring their bond as a family, by providing a fence, dog house, spay services, and supplemental dog food. Much is already in motion for this mama dog. But for the fence that will happen on December 21st-- so if you can spend a few hours celebrating the holiday season, please sign up below.
