Vancouver's Safe Park: Building Love & Keeping Families Together!
| ||||
Housing insecurity is at a crisis level both in Oregon and Washington—and with Fences For Fido we see this every day, impacting our families and their pets in such real and tangible ways. As a result, more people have been unable to afford stable housing especially with their pets and are living in temporary situations, like shelters and their vehicles. To that end, FFF is committed to help keep families and their pets together by building fences and providing other critical services, including for transitional housing and domestic violence shelters. That’s why, we will be building a fenced area for families with pets at Vancouver’s Safe Park Facility to ensure that families and individuals in transition can park safely with their four-legged family members. The Vancouver Safe Park Program is for individuals experiencing homelessness and who are living in their vehicles as they work to exit homelessness. Majority of the 50 households have pets and it’s why they have chosen living in their cars vs. a shelter (with access to human services) because of they want to keep their pets with them.
