Media Inquiries
Fences For Fido is the only unchaining organization in the Pacific Northwest. We provide free fences, warm shelter, veterinary care, and essential pet support to socially, financially, and geographically isolated communities—helping dogs live free, healthy lives with the families who love them.
For more than 17 years, we’ve been showing up where love meets need. What began with building fences for dogs living on chains has grown into a broader Circle of Care that can include veterinary care, spay/neuter and vaccinations, pet food, shelter, and other support for dogs and families when they need it.
We welcome stories about the dogs and families we serve, the volunteers who make this work possible, the communities we work in, and the issues affecting animal welfare and access to care.
For interviews, organizational information, data, history, policy questions, or to arrange coverage of a Fences For Fido build or program, please contact:

See the Work
Over 17 years, Fences For Fido has grown from one fence for one dog into a movement that has helped more than 4,000 Fidos find freedom, safety, and a better way to live with their families.
These two films, unveiled at our 2026 Stardust Soirée, offer a glimpse into the dogs, families, volunteers, and communities at the heart of our work.
4,000+ Fidos Unchained
Seventeen years of showing up, getting to work, and saying yes—one dog, one family, and one fence at a time.
Circle of Care
A fence is just the beginning. Our work has grown to include veterinary care, spay/neuter and vaccinations, pet food, warm shelter, and other support when families need it.
Media Guidelines
Protecting family privacy
Please do not publish the physical address of a family receiving services from Fences For Fido. Please also take care not to reveal street names, house numbers, or other identifying details in photographs or wide shots of a property.
Families invite us into their homes and yards, and our work often begins with building trust over time. We ask our media partners to respect each family’s privacy and to seek permission before using a family member’s name, image, or personal story.
Talking with Fido families
Many families are happy to share their experiences and talk about what a fence or other support has meant for their dog. Others may prefer privacy. Please follow each family’s wishes and ask permission before interviewing or photographing them.
Organizational information
Our volunteers have wonderful personal stories to share about why they do this work and what they experience in the field. For information about Fences For Fido, including our programs, history, impact, policies, finances, or organizational positions, please contact Kelly Peterson.
Safety at builds
Fences For Fido builds are active work sites, with dogs, tools, construction materials, vehicles, and other potential hazards present. Each build has designated lead volunteers who can help with access, safety, and information about the dogs at the property. Please follow their direction while on site.
